Animal Health

Animal health is a major concern for all cattle feeders. At Winter Feed Yard, we take animal health seriously. Animal health products are expensive and time in the hospital usually results in precious weight loss. Good nutrition, adequate pen/bunk space, and professional care are essential to protect your investment. We canít work miracles but we do work to provide the best of care. Our hospital area provides protection from those cold North winds and summer heat. Hospital pens are kept clean and bedded when necessary. We have an animal ambulance that allows us to return cattle to the pens over the feed bunks not through stressful sorting. A hospital computer system and chute scale help keep treatments weight appropriate and consistent.
Cattle processing is where disease prevention and protection begins. Proper administration and appropriate products are keys to any processing program. Handling of cattle is an art and at Winter Feed Yard, we believe in stress-less handling. From properly maintained equipment to quiet, easy handling, we work to maintain the good health of your cattle. Because one regiment does not fit all cattle, your cattle are processed according to background and condition.
The veterinarians that we consult with are local and their clinic is just minutes from Winter Feed Yard. They are in the yards weekly to oversee processing and doctoring of cattle. They have sat down with us to design appropriate processing and treatment programs that address cattle type, age, origin/background, nutritional condition and weight. Chad and Brock Kerr, owners of Dodge City Veterinary Clinic, are our consulting Veterinarians, and can be reached at 620-227-8651.
